4und seine Mitvorsitzenden. Beschluß von Rat und Volk; - - - S.d.
5- - - aus dem Demos Kydathenaion stellte den Antrag: Da
6bereits früher die Vorfahren des Charias stets ehrgeizig waren
7für den Rat und das Volk der Athener,
8und Charias selbst alle Aufgaben, für die das Volk ihn
9einsetzte, erfüllt hat in ehrgeiziger Weise, und
10durch Handheben gewählt zum Festspielleiter für das Jahr des
11Archons Antimachos (256/5), er alle Opfer geopfert hat, die ihm
12zukamen - - - dem Dionysos fünf Ochsen
13- - - den Athenern und den hier sich aufhaltenden
14Aitoler, und er alle Festpiele veranstaltet hat in guter und
15ehrgeiziger Weise; er auch die Dreifüße geweiht hat und die
16- - -; er auch gegeben hat
17- - - auch Sorge getragen hat, damit alle erhalten
18- - - das Amt des Festspielleiters aus eigenen
19Mitteln - - - Talente; und als eine Sonderumlage
20stattfand für den Schutz des Umlandes, er gespendet hat
21- - - und für seine Verwaltung Rechnung und Rechenschaft
22abgelegt hat; – Damit nun auch unter den anderen, die in
23künftiger Zeit Wohltaten leisten, ein Wettstreit sei, Ehrgeiz
24zu zeigen, in dem Wissen, dass sie seitens des Volkes angemessenen
25Dank erhalten werden, zu Glück und Heil!, wolle beschließen der Rat: dass
26die Vorsitzenden, die erlost sein werden zum Vorsitz in der nächsten
27Volksversammlung, hierüber verhandeln lassen und die Beschlussvorlage
28des Rates in die Volksversammlung einbringen, wonach der Rat es für gut
29befindet, dass man belobige Charias S.d. Euthykrates aus dem Demos Kydathenaion und
30ihn bekränze mit goldenem Kranz gemäß dem Gesetz wegen seiner
31Leistung und seines Ehrgeizes - - -

6previously the ancestors of Charias continued to show love of
7honour for the Council and Athenian People,
8and Charias himself in as many posts as the People
9appointed him to has performed his liturgies with love of honour, and
10when elected competition director for the year of the
11archonship of Antimachos he both performed all the sacrifices
12that fell to him - - - five bulls at the Dionysia
13- - - for the Athenians and Aitolians who were visiting
14and put on all the competitons well and
15with love of honour; and he dedicated the tripods, both the ones
16- - - 〚- - - erased - - -〛 and gave
17- - - he managed so that all might take
18- - - the competition directorship from his own resources
19- - - talents; and when the public subscription
20for the protection of the countryside took place he contributed
21- - - and submitted a reckoning and accounts
22for his management; in order therefore that there may be incentive for all others
23[in the future who are benefactors] knowing that for their love of
24honour they will receive from the People worthy
25thanks, for good fortune, the Council shall decide: that the
26presiding committee allotted to preside in the next
27Assembly shall put the matter on the agenda and submit the opinion
28of the Council to the People, that it seems good to the Council
29to praise Charias son of Euthykrates of Kydathenaion and
30crown him with a gold crown according to the law for
